Today is what I always class as the first day of summer i.e. when England take to the field in the First Test at home.
Not a bad start at 56-1 at lunch, should be 2 down in all honesty. I'm looking forward to seeing Root and Bairstow (hopefully tomorrow, not today!) make cases for their inclusion against the Aussies later in the summer.

Anyone else following? It's been very sad not hearing CMJ on TMS and will take a while getting used to.

I have the cricket on in the other room (I can see it from here in the dining room) and am glancing over at it regularly. I subscribed to Sky Sports this month just for the test cricket :)

Speaking of our other antipodean friends, did anyone see Watson v Pollard in the IPL yesterday? Watson really threw the toys after receiving what he was only to happy to dish out earlier in the game and Pollard really got under his skin.

Thinking ahead, who is currently England's best sledger, if KP is unfit?
Jimmy? Broady?
I'm at Trent Bridge (along with about 500 others) watching Surrey limping along at 2.5 an over against Notts. I love a day out at cricket.

Something of a mini collapse for England and we do indeed see the two (relative) youngsters I mentioned earlier called into action, with Root going along nicely on 25. Hope Bairstow can drop anchor for a bit.

Good test of character this.
We've got 2 Yorkshiremen @ the crease...there's nowt better than that lad:-) Plus Boycott & Vaughn commentating...We're taking over the world:-))))
2 an over at home against the world number 8 team isn't great. maybe they'll pick up the pace tomorrow, but today was pretty poor stuff.
It was good background noise for, err... revision. Yes, that's what I was doing. And not messing around.
