How I feel for Sabine Lisicki. Not in the fact that she lost but that she h to then go through the annoyance of being interviewed by the unbelievably irritating Sue Barker. It reminded of some of the interviews done by the thoroughly boring John Inverdale at last years Olympics.Come on BBC give up on the intrusive.

cannot stand John Boringdale, Sue at least used to be a tennis player who might have asked some pertinent questions instead of platitiudes.

You would think so.However given her performances in the obviously scripted Question of Sport without those two clowns Dawson and Tufnell I doubt it.

Sorry with those two clowns etc
I can't stand Tuffnell on Test Match Special!
A few years ago, she used to ask questions to tennis players without a script. I think the Beeb have got to her :-(

Thanks Fred
Unlike the blessed Claire Balding, who does ask pertinent and sympathetic questions when interviewing people from her sport, Sue Barker is dead irritating. I think Tracy Austin would do a better job.
Lisicki does not have the mental strength for sport. She is known as being very injury prone but most believe that the injuries are a psychological issue.

After set 1 she went off and reappeared and had clearly been crying she then started crying mid-game when she couldn't serve properly.
You have to fear for people that are this fragile in a high-pressure environment.
i like sue, however i hate it when someone has just lost a match and they stick a microphone in their face and say, how do you feel, mad.
I suspect the £800,000 for 10½ hours of matchplay tennis will help to assuage any annoyance.
Will winning jockeys climb up on the stands at Epsom or Aintree in the future ?
Mattk -- I'm not sure it's fair to say that she doesn't have the mental strength for sport. She seemed pretty strong against Serena from 4-2 down and against Aga from 3-0 down after all. Even in this match she was showing signs towards the end of finally turning up, but it was too late and Bartoli served it out phenomenally well.

This was her first Major final. Maybe it got to her so much that she couldn't play. It happens to many people and they end up coming back stronger. Look at Murray after his horrible sequence at the AusOpen and Wimbledon Finals before winning in the US Open, and I'm sure he's not the only one. Many people are uptight at the first chance.

I'm not sure Lisicki's game lends itself well to the sort of reining in you need to do when things aren't going your way. Going for those awesome winning shots is fine when it works, but if you keep missing you need a plan B. That's what Lisicki will need to develop in future if she's to win a Slam. I think she could win Wimbledon some day, grass is her best surface and she'll continue to meet and threaten the big names here, but today the occasion got to her. Next time... who knows?
She can come around and have some comfort from me.........
as an aside, would it be possible to have Boycott shot?
As an aside, another tennis player who could do with developing a Plan B when her usual aggressive go-for-big-shots-all-the-time game doesn't work would be Laura Robson. We saw signs of it in her second- and third-round matches this tournament, and she has plenty of time to develop one, but I do think she'll need that Plan B many times in the future. If she does find it then Robson is a great bet to rise yet further in the women's game.
