I was quite impressed with Italy, but on hearing an interview with their coach, who sounds more Manchester than Mantua, I began to wonder even more if the Rugby League World Cup is just a "Look up your family tree if you aren't good enough to play for Australia, New Zealand or England" competition.

Or am I being unfair?
