Yes, Sqad.....and wasn't he a hero. I watched some short interviews last night....a man to be much admired.....x

gness...yes he was a hero......people rememberer him mainly for pacing his great friend Sir Roger Bannister to be the first sub four minute miler, but he was a champion in his own right.First ITN presenter and much more that you can Google at you leisure.

Chataway of course didn't read medicine, but in that era were 3 notable medical students.

Arthur Wint..St Bartholemews Hospital....1948 Gold Medal in the 400metres.

Sir Roger Bannister...St Mary's Hospital.....first sub 4 minute miler.

Derek Johnson.....The London Hospital (Now the Royal London) Silver medal in the 400metres 1958 Olympics.
I admire him for his passion, fairness and gentlemanly behaviour in his sport and I do know what he went on to achieve afterwards.

As you say a champion in his own right.....more of his ilk wouldn't be a bad thing.....☺
