Hmmm, interesting question. Sadly, the likeliest answer is beegeebee's, simply because it takes a lot of (in this case joint) determination to ignore peer pressure and/or greed and maintain any discipline - you have to have national acceptance of principles over the facile. Now, if on 18th September the majority vote Yes, then I'll happily admit that today I am underestimating the moral courage of the people of Scotland.
