So the guy in white, who is the one who cheats a lot, after the Arsenal guy touches him, his chest shoots out and his head goes back.

That was obviously not a result of the Arsenal guy hitting him, because he hit him on the leg.

Therefore he must have already been in an upper torso off balance situation, unrelated to the tackle from the defender.

In other words, he was going to fall over anyway.

The Arsenal guy didn't bring him down.

Not a penalty.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think I've cleared that one up. I thank you.
If Suarez had just fallen over then it would have been a penalty. Since he managed to do a head flip, he didn't deserve one.
Question Author
It did look as if he bounced off his head!

I was at the match. Definite penalty. Just one of a number of decisions our so-called top official got wrong.

But he was falling over, so he couldn't have got to the ball.

It can't be a penalty, surely, if the attacking player is falling over independently of the tackle.
I'm undecided on this one JJ, but: if, for an example, an attacker is lying face down in the area, with the ball 50 yards away, and a defender deliberately stamps on him, my understanding is that the ref can give a penalty. I don't think the ball has to be within reach. Maybe a ref can confirm (but don't ask Howard Webb)
He didn't get the penalty because of his reputation as a diving, cheating, cannibal. Simple as that!
Question Author
Fair enough.
To be fair, the final roll of his fall would have made Jurgen Klinsmann blush........
Don't like Suarez but it was definitely a penalty

His diver reputation goes before him though and can influence referees decisions

Question Author
Well, that's also fair enough.

If you are known for trying to dupe the ref, and then sometimes you are actually foiled, and you find it hard to persuade the ref that this time it was a real foul, honest ref, well that's just tough titties.

If the ref has any doubt in his mind, and you don't get the benefit of the doubt, that's too bad.

Stop dicking about on the floor, and get up and play the game.

How did all these prima donna nancy boy players take over the game in the first place?

"fouled" ... not "foiled"

Because the authorities never punish them.
Do that sort of thing in rugby and implement the lengths of bans that are dished out and it would stop overnight.
Make simulation an automatic 3 match ban and the problem would solve itself.

The farcical sending off of Andy Carroll was ridiculous. If he gets an automatic 3 match ban for an innocuous clash then why wasn't Chico Flores censured for simulation? He was struck lightly across the forehead yet went down in agony holding his face!!
Laughable.
If FIFA did something about this sort of rubbish, football would at least regain a scintilla of credibility:

Not to mention this. Basically, MTFU!

Chemmy Alcott tumbled down an icy slope, at 60mph, with her leg bone in three pieces.

When she finally stopped, with her shattered leg twisted back on itself by the weight of her ski boot, she made less fuss than that Liverpool player who got knocked over onto the nasty hard grass.

I know who I'd rather go out drinking with.
That Suarez is good at gymnastics, isn't he !.
jj.....'Stop dicking about on the floor, and get up and play the game'

I do love a woman who tells it like it is

chilldoubt........agree about Carroll/Chico incident

Chico playacted and got the result he wanted, although Carroll didn't help himself by showing his usual 'Rooney-like' petulance and shouldn't have swung his arm in retaliation
If he'd have swung his arm in retaliation, Flores wouldn't have got up! No clenched fist, no stiff arm, it was an innocuous, accidental strike.
No wonder Allardyce laughed at him when he tried something similar in the previous encounter between the teams.
So what do the authorities do about it? Nothing.
