Have to say, the surface at Murrayfield looks atrocious.....
8 minutes in and a bright start by both sides, with Scotland having the better of possession but making little headway. France have the lead from a very early penalty.
France looking a little ominous and almost scored one of their famous breakaway tries but to no avail.
A second easy penalty is converted by France, 0-6.
France's scrum half Machenaud, inexperienced at this level has his box kick charged down and France are in retreat as Scotland rage forward.
Some dispute over a possible try by Denton....
Question Author
well whatever the decision here, what a French mess up.
Try for Scotland! Not sure how the TMO came to that decision but it stands and Scotland are on their way.
Game on!
France riposte immediately, already piling forward, they're just short of the Scottish line....
Pressure results in another easily converted penalty for Les Bleu's, 7-9.
I've been watching on my ipad with sound off. Took me 3 minutes to realise France were playing in dark blue. What's all that about?
A great move by the Scots, straight off the training paddock and the wing is in for the score.
Replays show a block on Plisson which would have negated the try but the TMO is not called upon and the score stands.
14-9 with the conversion.
Commentators say that this is the last game on this pitch as it will become a hybrid shortly, which would explain the nature and stae of it. They don't want to throw any more money at it than they have to!

They should have asked JK Rowling to make a donation - she was sitting there on the royal bench.
Question Author
I suspect the pitch is as it is to slow Les Grenouilles down and put more stress on the kicking game - something that Scotland seem to be better at (not surprisingly).
The teams emerge for the 2nd half, score remains unchanged since last posted, the game is anyone's.
Question Author
Oh dear Scotland - what a boo boo there - ijiut of a pass.
Oh dear, Scotland are the architects of their own downfall as they throw a miss-pass when it wasn't required, it just needed putting through the numbers.
Huget intercepts and runs the length of the field for the score.
A Weir pen sees Scotland lead by 1, last 20 now, it's gonna be interesting....
Question Author
There goes a French chance...
It's very scrappy from both sides, not helped by a ref who is struggling to maintain normality at the scrums.
Almost 8 minutes wasted with no play. Criminal.
Oh no! A pen for France under the Scottish posts and now it's 2 point swing to the French.
Last chance saloon now, one final play.
I'll await DTC's scores (he's got a system and he knows how to use it!), I believe I may have regained top spot in the AB Rugby Pundit Stakes!
