Good luck to all England's foreign players, and nothing racist intended, but perhaps if England had more English players in their teams they'd have a better chance

When you say "England's foreign players" do you mean foreign players who play in the English leagues?

Yes slipowicz, realised It sounded a bit confusing
There aren't enough quality English players around at the moment, quod erat demonstrandum. You can hardly blame managers of English teams signing better foreign players!

Aren't up and coming youngsters not given enough chances when managers know they can go abroad for good players?
Mags, of course they are! Every club over a certain size has an academy, and the owners would like nothing better than to fill their squads with home-grown talent. The price is right, after all!

But they're simply not good enough. If they were, there would be no need for overseas players.

That is a real shame and very discouraging for keen youngsters
OP, I always watch out for when Manchester United players are playing for their national team. That's why I'm now getting behind the Dutch (RVP) and they've played well so far.
England have won sfa since 1966 - when did the game get overrun with foreign players - 1967 ?
Spurs had three in the one team did they .Come on you spurs
I posted this in another section. It says it all really.

Quote(Oct 2013) from the BBC football webpage

"English footballers account for less than a third of all the minutes played in the Premier League, a State of the Game study for BBC Sport has found.
The figure for home country players - 32.26% - is down from 35.43% in 2007-08 and is significantly lower than all other major European leagues according to football statisticians Opta".

English born players just aren't getting sufficient experience of top flight football. If things go as now, the English side will consist of mainly Championship, or even lower division players.

We should have had David Beckham on the bench and played him for the final 15 minutes of every game. Similar impact to putting Zinedine Zidane on the pitch for France.

Is that a joke that has gone above my head?
