I have just watched a documentary on Tai Woffinden (World Speedway Champion). Three things came to mind
1. What a very talented individual he is, in his chosen sport.
2. What a thoroughly decent and genuine guy he seems off the track.
3. Why do you cover your body with tattoos?
I don't like them, and therefore would never dream of having one myself. Wondering what other ABers thoughts are.
I quite like them on other people- I went out with a heavily tattooed boyfriend for a while, but they don't fit into my plans and might restrict me so I won't be having one myself. It's a personal choice, some are very beautiful and some are ghastly - just like the people whose bodies they adorn :)
Point 3 has been debated here before. I appreciate tastes differ and some may think them works of art, but I simply see them as marring an otherwise beautiful nature given skin; and I'm saddened this scarring of the body seems to be more accepted ever since celebs thought it a good idea.
Quite so. But after wearing a pair of badly fitting shoes in the name of fashion you can kick them off and throw them away.
Tattoos are a bit like "personalised" vehicle registration numbers. They usually mean absolutely nothing to most other people but those having them seem to have to say "look at me".
A young lady found out to her cost a week or so ago that the tattoo she had on her ankle prevented her application for cabin crew with BA from being progressed. Naturally she was "devastated" (as anyone who faces the tiniest of disappointments seems to be these days) and said she thought the decision ws unfair. Well there you go. BA has good reason to have a policy of no visible tattoos among its staff (tattoos in some countries have offensive undertones) and she should have thought it through before having her body mutilated. But as has been said, each to their own and that goes for employers as well as employees.
