Well Done England

Total annihilation of India in the last 3 Tests.
Yes, I was calling for Cook to be replaced as captain(still think it should be someone else, he doesn't respond well to pressure as a rule) but remain as opener.
That said, they will now have a new found confidence which we will hopefully carry through into the winter and ultimately onto next summer.

Quite takes me back to my youth when I hero-worshipped Fred, sat cross-legged on the boundary and chucked balls back to Close! Said last year that Root should be in at 4 or 5. Tend to agree with you about Cook and the new confidence - they are gelling as a team.
Oh Chilly, you brought back so any memories of those Yorkshire days! Fiery Fred bowling from the Kirkstall Lane End and Phil Sharpe (aka Harry Sharples) snaffling slip catches in the gloom. Also the amazing J H Wardle playing and enjoying his cricket as it should be played and entertaining the crowd into the bargain. Ah, those were the days! (Don't tell me, it was getting on for 60 years ago!.)
We must have been at some of the same matches! Yes, I try not to think about how long ago it was. I wore shorts and had pigtails if it is of any help! Fortunately Yorkshire is not so depleted that it can't do well in the County Championships. We are so looking forward to getting back to Yorkshire (exiled in France at the moment) and watching a match or two.
is there a winter? I don't think they play again till next April

Awfully sorry Jourdy, we must have been at either Headingley or Bramall Lane at one or more matches in the 50s / 60s but I didn't notice you as I wasn't really into shorts and pigtails in those days! (It's a different matter today though!)
(Sorry about the current exile. Can you get a decent pint of John Smith's?)

MichaelZZ I also wore a home-knitted cardi (those were the days) if that helps! You are joking about a decent pint! Red wine isn't bad though. Have finally sold my house (taken 4 years) sign papers 22/9 and then start looking back home. Only problem is that other half also has to sell his house (we met over here). He's also looking forward to sandwiches and cricket - must find somewhere with a local cricket team. Agree, we must have been at the same matches sometimes (my dad was disappointed not to have sons, so took my sister and I along) - 'fraid I'd have to grow my hair a bit to make pigtails these days!
