fixed which way? Liston was accused of putting some sort of astringent on his gloves so he could get it into Clays' eyes, which he did. But Clay won.

liston took a dive in both fights in my opinion. I don't think he was scared of clay as he was then, but terrified of the mob who had big money on clay.
Just my opinion. Good article on the bbc page about the rumble in the jungle. 40 years ago apparently.

I remember seeing the fights when I was a kid - Sonny Liston was pathetic - he had a reputation as a monster but he was slow and plodding and was made to look less than ordinary - there was something very fishy about his performances and there was talk about him being involved with gangsters.
