When Hyphen Meets Hyphen

I was musing today about the current fashion for people in relationships to hyphenate their surnames. What happens when/if they have children? It might be a bit unwieldy for the class register:

You can name your child by any surname. You don't have to give it the parents name.

Or maybe the victim will go for a name change when old enough.
