So this top footballer award thing?

In two earlier years, with a total lack of imagination, they just give it to the most expensive player, from the most expensive club.

Christiano Ronaldo

Christiano Ronaldo

Yawn, bore, yada yada yada, wake me when it's over.

So this year, ladies and gentlemen, we have racked our brains, and scoured the clubs of the world, and the winner is ...

Christiano Ronaldo

Some guy on the radio said it was between Ronaldo and Messi.

That can't be right. Messi didn't even make the top 3.
Not a fan then!!!!!!

Mmmm ... not really x
You missed a comma in the header between football and awards, otherwise, fine. :-)
Question Author
lol ... you think it applies to awards generally, douglas?

You maybe right!
I would give it to Andrea Pirlo of Juventus.

Good call, danny

Someone that none of us have heard of.

Then we can think "oh, interesting, who's this player?"

In fact ... have a Best Answer on me.

x
He's worth a google Jayne.
Gareth Bale is the most expensive player.
Where you have Christiano Ronaldo up ^ there replace the first one with Messi

Yes it is predictable, this years over all winner should have been a goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.
Boring, unimaginative........ but correct. He is the best player in the World.
Awards ceremonies in my opinion are a curse. Just an excuse for a lot of back slapping and a bit of a party.
I thought Messi did make the top three, though...

There's little point in denying that Ronaldo is up there as the best in the world at the moment. In one of the stronger leagues he's been banging goals in at a goal a game and setting up quite a few more. And has kept up a similar level of scoring for most of the past two or three years.

"Yes it is predictable, this years over all winner should have been a goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer."
Totally agree ,must be the/one of the greatest keepers ever

// I thought Messi did make the top three, though //

Yeah sorry, he did, actually. I just checked.
I think what this years result shows is that a goalkeeper can never win ( unless he regularly saves penalties and in the same process of play takes on all the opposing players and bangs in a rasper in the opponents net.

Without a doubt, steg. He does at least have something that Ronnie and Lionel doesn't have ... A World Cup winners gong!
Most concerning thing about this was who Woy voted for.In order they were Mascherano,Lahm and Neuer they are a midfield ball winner a full back and a goalkeeper, sums him up don't you think. Also Cristiano would appreciate it if you could spell his name properly.

Desculpe, o Sr Cristiano x
Lol, JJ has made a fair few errors on this thread, perhaps she should stick to netball?

My idea of Footballer of the Year, is the one that i would most want to see.

Clearly , this year...........Ronaldo.

Would you go to a match eager to see the goal keeper?

Boring and unimaginative.........YES, but no more so than other .."Awards."
