You have to remember that in those days the goalkeepers didn't have the protection from the ref's like they do today.

Seems very odd to determine who wins the cup by the 'sins' of past players. By this reckoning, Man Utd should always be judged by the antics of Roy Keane (freely admitted he deliberately went out to injure particular players), Chelsea by 'Chopper' Harris, Leeds by Norman 'Bite yer legs' Hunter, you could just keep going with this list...
