Snooker Rules For "aggregate Score" Matches

I can't seem to find any basic rules for the team game of snooker, where the total aggregate score of all the players determines the result.I assume that the result of each individual frame is irrelevant and the idea is to score as many points as possible for the team in your own frame.?---The only reference I can find in the rule book is that a re-spotted black does not happen in aggregate score frames.I assume therefore that even if there might be 20 points difference in the scores of a frame with only black remaining play continues until the black is potted.(Even bringing the black back up if a foul is made on it). New Judge or anyone help?

Have just been informed by a colleague that normal frame rules apply [8 points or more difference after pink goes down] means end of frame. Also --the re-spotted black is only used after the last frame if aggregate scores are the same.

Sorry, Kenny. I don’t dip into sport that much and didn’t see your question when it was under “latest posts”.

I’ve not seen any rules for “aggregate” snooker but I would agree that a black would not be respotted in the event of a frame being tied (unless it was the final frame and the scores were tied as you described). The only purpose of respotting the black is to decide a tied frame and since the number of frames won is irrelevant (you could win an "aggregate" match even if you won fewer frames) there is no point in respotting the black. In fact, thinking it through, there would be no point in keeping individual frame scores at all. If the first frame was won, say, 65-40 then the second frame should pick up from there so that the players know the aggregate score throughout.

However I’m not so sure I agree with the idea that the frame ends when the pink has been potted (assuming one player is more than seven points ahead). That would only be so if the number of frames won was the deciding factor and we have decided (above) that it is not. If there are seven more points to be gained then they should be made available to one player or the other.

One final point. In “normal” snooker the black is not brought back up if it is potted by means of a foul stroke as you suggest. When only the black remains if a foul is committed (whether the black is potted as part of that foul or not) the frame is over (unless the scores are then tied then the black is respotted). In short, a foul on the black ends the frame.
