I'm not aware it has a specific name.

Children practise it a lot in the kindergarten and in schools, at least in my country. It's very healthy for adults too :)

I've never heard of it in Britain, but perhaps some schools practise it in physical education classes. Is it good for muscles?

Yes, it's good for muscles! If there is no specific collocation, then what verb(s) might approximate this type of movement?
