That was not a swear word, "Bug"
You are kidding right?

Who is Rooney, why is he/she being treated badly and by whom?
Question Author
No.
Do you follow football at all, TW?
Even I know who Wayne Rooney is but I didn't know that he was being ill treated. What's happened with him, TWR?
He is being treated the same as any other footballer who is out of form, a spell on the substitutes bench is not uncommon.
He has not been included in the starting line up for the latest England match. And he has been left out a few times at Man Utd recently. It's no surprise - he isn't generally a major influence on the games any more (and hasn't been for a few years)
Thank you, Danny and FF. Now I know.

When he was up, he was up, now that he's down, kick him, typical of the UK.
What else can be done? it's a young mans sport and the likes of Rooney are amply rewarded. Personally I think it's a disgusting that people, for just kicking a ball, get more money in a week than thousands of people don't get in ten years.
That happened to me...it happens to a very large number of us and generally without the back up of quite a few years of earning enough money to ensure a more than comfortable retirement. Without being sufficiently well known to get picked up to do other jobs either.

I gather he's a footballer, that would explain why I don't know him, were he a Rugby Player I would've known.
He is of no interest.
It happens to any footballer no matter how famous they once were.
I would imagine the 'life span' of a football player at the top of the premier league is 15 years at the most.

I agree regards the Money Vulcan.
Nonsense TW.

I was calling for Rooney to be dropped for the 2010 world cup, he was woefully out of form and was very lucky to get on the pitch.

I agree, TWR.
Let's keep an out-of-form player in the team.....let him keep the Captain's armband....back him to the hilt; and then when England lose important matches we can sack the manager for making the wrong selection choices.
I agree with vulcan. He is paid ridiculous amounts of money. If he's not good enough now, he has to go. It happens to all sportspeople eventually.

Cricketers are also often dropped after they've served club and country for years with no farewell present or fanfare. It must be difficult, but Rooney can look at his vast bank balance to cheer himself up.
I don't think the concept of 'fairness' comes into it.

To question if it is 'fair' on Rooney, there is an implication that his being dropped is a personal decision based on a personal issue.

It is purely a professional decision based on picking the best team available, and right now Rooney does not qualify.

As a professional, he accepts this, and has said he will work to regain his place.

That puts him in the same position as every other footballer in any team from the bottom to the top.

Fairness does not come into it.
