I said to my wife, "If he's not World Champion within two years, you can eat my socks".

the rain always shows the best drivers and how he made that car stick like that through multiple passes was remarkable.
He's a star.
With ' Mad Max' - you know it's either going to end in applause or tears .

Lewis has always been a rain master .
Pity he is going to lose the title , because of reliability problems .

Now that the German team will now have a German champion , perhaps we can look forward to an exciting 2017 season
It's races like that where F1 drivers really earn their corn .

Imagine doing 50mph in your car in heavy rain , with your wipers not working .
Now imagine doing 150+ in an open cockpit car in heavy rain , with the spray from the car in front all over your visor .
It was a fantastic drive, he is a very talented driver.
Yes, I was hoping that Max was going to take Nico out performing one of his famous lunges into a corner! (No not really!!).

Max will be world champ within two or three years. Once the dominance of Mercedes comes to an end (which it will, because dominant runs always come to an end), provided he's in a competitive car he will take the title. Yesterday sorted the great drivers from the good drivers. Lewis was great because he never put a foot wrong despite all the mayhem. Max was great (as discussed). Nico, I'm afraid, fails to cut the mustard when the going gets tough. Although he finished second he would probably have been fourth had Red Bull not ballsed up their strategy by trying Intermediate tyres. And I forgot, Vettel's whinging gets more intense with every race.

Bar accidents, blow ups or breakdowns Nico will take the title in a fortnight but he would have been a distant runner up had Lewis not had early season problems and his DNF in Malaysia. But fair dos, Nico did what had to be done and Lewis did throw a couple of races away with very poor starts. At the end of the season the driver with most points is the champion and that's all that counts. Unless, of course, we're going to have a "Hard" world championship and a "Soft" world championship. Then I think all 21 races will have to be re-run. Either that or the stewards will have to make a decision :-) :-)
''Pity he is going to lose the title because of reliability problems''

LH not totally blameless though is he: a number of bad starts from pole through driver error haven't help his campaign this year.

Great drive by MV.

Yes he did mess up a few starts - but taking them into account he would still be odds on favourite to retain the title if it wasn't for the reliability issues .

However as NJ says , at the end of the day the champion is the one with the most points.

There are a lot of if onlys in racing .
Lewis would almost certainly have been champion in his rookie season , if he was not left out far too long on worn tyres; before being called in ; and sliding off into the gravel coming into the pit lane .

//Few accidents in F1 racing history have carried so little energy and yet so much significance.
Even fewer have seemed so preventable.
But as Lewis Hamilton slid into the gravel and out of the race in China, the penultimate round of what had been an eventful and historic rookie campaign, all McLaren could do was watch and reflect on what might have been//

Yes really :-)
Couldn't agree more, TTT.

I managed to get through the whole day and evening without finding anything out about the race. I'd taped it on my bedroom tv to watch while I read my book.

I must have read the same page of my book, a dozen times.

Verstappen drove amazingly, and will definitely be a future world champion.
It was nice acknowledgement of Massa , by the teams .

Nearly won the Championship , if it wasn't for a certain Mr Hamilton
Hamilton is a disgrace couldnt even shake rosbergs hand in the weighing room only when put on the spot on the podium
Shouldn't have spun though, but a hell of a performance to get back. For me, it was Vettel - nearly there but nice to see him come through.
