It is ignorant, Mikey, and the kind of thing said by someone who hasn't been a victim of abuse. Any abuse, sexual, emotional, mental.... always has an element of fear and shame attached. That's why victims stay quiet but when someone else speaks up they affirm it...not jumping on the bandwagon as people on here often accuse them of.

It reads to me that he thinks as they got old enough they should have gave their abusers a hiding.
Abuse effects people in different ways. So much depends on what age you were when it happened, what age you were when it came out, did it ever come out and you've spent years holding a secret.
What Eric said is badly worded but I'm sure many people would think the same....except they probably aren't victims themselves and have no idea of the emotions involved.

Ummm....not only are this slobs words badly put, they are ignorant in the extreme.
If we accept that Bennell targeted dozens, if not hundreds of very young boys and subjected them to years of sheer terror, then Bristow shows no indication that he understands this situation at all, not even a little bit. And I refuse to believe that there are many that share his words.
AB policy forbids me from saying what I thinks of Bristow, but I think you can guess what it would be, and to his face if the opportunity presented itself.

I understand what Eric Bristow is saying, but times have changed. I think a lot of people, particularly those from poor working class backgrounds, feel that rather than the victim involving the law - something that within that culture was never considered - abusers should be ‘sorted out’ in what they see as the time honoured fashion.
I wonder if Bristow would repeat these remarks of his, face to face with any of the victims, instead off hiding on Twitter ?
I am reminded of a remark that Cameron once said, live on radio about Twitter :::
"One tweet is OK but too many tweets are just a womens front bottom"
( or something like that )
Kind of sums up Bristow to a T !

Ummmm, //I bet he doesn't know how he'd react if it happened to his son or daughter. //
I bet he does. He'd duff the abuser up - or have him duffed up. He's not unsympathetic to the victims. Quite the opposite. He's simply saying that rather than depend upon the law, he would deal with the perpetrators personally.

Ummmm....it seems that even with all that has happened concerning child sexual attacks, there are still some that will try to use weasel words.
There are some in Britain, not the most discerning of course, that will hang on to every word someone like Bristow will utter.
Geezer is far too mild a word for this uneducated slob. he should stick to pubs.
