Sudden Abundance Of Women On Bbc Football Programs

While I have no objection at all for women being football pundits and commentators, also extensive coverage of women's football. Does anyone else find it a bit contrived that this has suddenly happened after all the years of being only men?

Many presenters have been unfairly banished in favour of more hip presenters and those who have ended their careers and are deemed good broadcasters which many are certainly not.
Some women have been around for years,Irvine,Baldwin etc and do a sterling job.Gabby Logan and Jacqui Oakley are certainly up to the task too.
I think it's a good thing. If they are good enough the sex doesn't matter. What we don't want are retrograde steps where the axing of some presenters has left a sour taste.

I remember seeing a TV programme about women's football early in the last century and they used to get huge crowds similar to Championship/Premier League sides now, so women's football is not new. Women's football is not as popular as men's football but it draws in crowds which are usually bigger than cricket matches get so it's not unreasonable for TV companies to show it on TV.
Football on TV is watched by women as well as men so it seems reasonable that the commentators/presenters should include some women
