It's certainly not something I would say...even though everyone really likes me.
The President of the United States. And he's right - not everybody in the UK dislikes him and some actually agree with many of his policies - especially those that put the interests of American citizens first. Many wish we had leaders in this country that would do the same.
I would hope that anyone who stands up publicly to ask for support would do so in the expectation of people liking him/her. I assume this question is about President Trump. My answer is - a confident person who thinks s/he can help people and that said people will respond appropriately with liking. As good as I can do.
Every politician says they're putting the interests of their country first. It's a meaningless soundbite. Trump's spending cuts have caused considerable harm to a number of Americans, as has his gutting of environmental and conservation programmes. His trade wars with his immediate neighbours have provoked unnecessary tariffs on American goods. The Republican party under his leadership has put open white supremacists and neo nazis up for election across the country (e.g. Arthur Jones, Russel Walker, John Fitzgerald). This would have been unthinkable before. That's obviously pretty contrary to the interests of Jewish Americans, black Americans, gay Americans and more. Or do their interests not count as 'American Interests'?

A strong, confident man.
He must be a regular reader of AB. He's got his very own fan base right here.
Evening Ken. Credit where credit is due. He's the elected president of the most powerful nation on earth. What are you?
What am i? I'm just an average Joe, Naomi. Then again, i wasn't born into a fabulously rich family. I may have been more than the average Joe had that been so.
Being born into a rich family is no guarantee of such enormous success, Ken. Got to be more to it than that.
Never was 'natter and nonsense' more over represented than a Chatterbank thread on The Donald.

Utterly bizarre gobbledegook from folk that I thought knew better.

I'm off before it invades my dreams too.
The money helps though, Naomi. The money sure helps. As does being in the public eye prior to standing for nomination. I've always respected American Presidents, even the really stupid ones, but i cannot respect a guy who comes across as the playground bully. Wonder how many times he took the ball back home with him when he was a kid and he wasn't getting his own way.
How do you go about "assessing" US presidents, Ken?

Their aims? Their policies? And how effective the policies might have been in achieving the aims?

Have they left office leaving the world a safer place? Or America a more prosperous one?

Can you give examples of Presidents who by your standards have done well or badly?

Trumpery: useless or worthless article
