Does anyone know why Botswana were DQd from the men’s 4x400m, allowing GB to go through to the final?

The Official Results says [rule] 170.19 and that says, "For all takeovers, athletes are not permitted to begin running outside their takeover zones, and shall start within the zone. If an athlete does not follow this Rule, his team shall be disqualified." In other words, the receiving athlete began running outwith the correct area.

Thanks, Corby. Good news for GB then. Rooney should have done a bit more than just hang on to the Japanese runner. Hope he does better in the final.

I didn't see the race but I seen him being interviewed and apologising. Maybe they need to replace him in the final?

I think Rooney is our best 400m runner, so it doesn’t bode well for the final.
