To be still 'playing' pro football at the age of 53 but to put things into perspective (without wishing to appear to be cissing on his phips) the Japanese J1 league is not the most competitive league in the world of football. However, he is a bit of a national hero, having played in Brazil earlier in his career. Yokohama FC finished 4th from bottom last season with the 53 year old making just 4 appearances - don't know if they were starts or if he came off the bench - 3 the season before that. It would appear he is being kept on as a stop gap and, perhaps, dressing-room unity.
