I've sacked the idea of predicting which player will win Player Of The Tournament award but i will be looking at one or two ways of edging a few of my bets.

There i a team in this competition who haven't lost a match since 10 Sep 2018 - a 1-0 defeat to Portugal in the Nations League. During that time, they have played 27 games, only 6 of which were friendlies, winning 21 and drawing 6. They have scored 75 goals and only let in 7, keeping a clean sheet in their last 8 matches. They have appeared in 3 finals, winning one.
My final pre-tournament bet is; £5 win Italy @ 8/1
That brings my total ante-post stake to just under £65.
Best of luck to all punters.

Not long to go now before the opening match of the tournament and while i fancy Italy to win this match, the Turks could prove more troublesome than the bookies would have us believe (Turkey 15/2 to win!). Backing Italy to win @ around 1/2 on won't make anyone rich (just a tad richer) so i've been tempted by Willy Hill's offer;
£5; Italy to win, Immobile to have over 1 SOT and the match to see over 2 goals. 6/1 for a poss return of £35.

Today's first game is the Wales v Switzerland affair and, though i have Switzerland in my 'acca', this is one of those games that could really go either way. The only reason i'm slightly siding with the Swiss is that they arrive here in very decent form - they score goals even when being beat. Wales, on the other hand, haven't scored a goal in their last 4 games. Who knows, they may have been saving them for the comp? :-/
None of the offers whet my appetite so i've built my own bet and not used any of my own money :-)
More than 1 goal in the game, over 3 cards, over 5 corners, Ramsay to be booked, Seferovic to score anytime. £2 free bet @ 18/1 for a poss return of £36

Had the news from the Denmark v Finland match not been encouraging, i certainly would not have watched the Belgium v Russia match. Now i am in a better frame of mind, i will be doing so and here's my bet;
Over 2 goals, over 2 cards, over 9 corners and Lukaku to score anytime throughout the 90 mins. £5 @ 17/2 = poss £47.50.

Decent win for England but nothing to get too carried away with. Croatia a tad disappointing, imho.
On to the next match, Austria v N Macedonia and one in which the Austrians ought to win. Yes, i know that N Macedonia beat the Germans, but i can only go off the stats in front of me. And they show that these two sides met twice last year, home and away, and the Austrians won both - 2-1 and 4-1. One thing is for sure, the Macedonians do like to collect yellow cards, even in friendlies.
So, Austria to win, over 2 goals and N Macedonia most cards. £5 free bet @ 7/1 = poss return of £35.

Although in fairness the Scots did play a small part in the invention of the 2 games. Many years ago a Scot visited England looking for a loan and brought with him a couple of Haggis. After foolishly tasting one of them his English host took the other and booted it, out of hand, over a high wooden paling as far as he possibly could. Afterwards he thought "that was fun" . Wisely having no more of the stuff to kick into touch he had a ball made in roughly the same shape and proceeded to hoof it high and long at every opportunity. The birth of Rugby football was on hand and from there came Association Football.
