Will This Effectively End Olympic Weightlifting For Women?
Answers
This is absurd. I find it genuinely, head- scratchingly astonishing, that people are prepared to suspend belief and common-sense and accept it's OK for transgender 'women' to compete against proper women in any sport that requires speed, strength or both. Two recent examples - Hannah Mouncey, Aussie Rules footballer and Australian Women Handball...

While I'm not suggesting the transgenderism should be considered a disability, maybe the Paralympics is a better place for Trans athletes. There are multiple versions of the same events there depending on the level of disability, so Trans athletes can compete against one another, thus ending concerns about unfair advantages.
indeed, Atheist, sports were pretty much invented by men for men (typically for training soldiers, I suspect, though cricket was for bored shepherds and rugby for public schoolboys to let off steam).
Women's events have been permitted for some time as a gesture to the weaker sex - I believe they can compete on equal terms in diving and equestrian events but not much else. And athletes with a mixed range of disabilities now have Paralympics. I don't know how much more niche we can get, though.

//Looks like you are just anti-transgenderist reactionary alongside the likes of JK Rowling et al.//
I don’t think it’s “anti-transgenderist” to be concerned about sports which rely predominantly on physical strength to have men competing in women’s competitions. However unpalatable as it may seem, men and women are different. They have different physiques and men are generally stronger. In many sports this is significant and in weightlifting it is probably most significant of all. Putting a frock on and changing your name from Terry to Tracy does not make a person female as far as that goes.
I’ve really no interest in what gender people adopt. As I said a few weeks ago, the term is largely redundant as far as I can see. But I am concerned that female sport risks being trashed by this nonsense. A male human is a man and will be a father to any children he creates; a female human is a woman and will be a mother if she gives birth. They can call themselves what they like but they should be kept apart in any sport where physical strength is a significant factor (which is most of them).
This business needs to be stopped in its tracks The best thing that female participants can do is to boycott any competition which involves a man masquerading as a woman. They’d better do this before some lunatic comes up with the idea of putting a man and a woman together in a boxing ring. Then it won’t be just a question of who wins the gold medal.
