Tribalism
Football Supporters are like primitive tribes. Many Everton supporters object vehemently to an ex-Liverpool manager (Rafael Benitez) being appointed to their club.
There have been other examples, for example Harry Redknapp appointed to Southampton after Portsmouth (and then back again). There was also a Norwich/Ipswich one who's name escapes me at the moment.
How shallow to object to such appointments.

They hate them even more. It really is a massive thing almost a religion, no it is a religion, it has two temples, holy relics, sacred robes and high priests aka 2 manager. It really is the first thing a bloke is asked when he introduces a new girlfriend. Is she red or blue?
