Do you find BBCTV’s presenters of The Olympics - Gabby Logan, Clare Balding, Hazel Irvine, etc - warm and likeable? I don’t at all. Maybe we are not supposed to. But I wish they’d all be replaced by more endearing people
ok sorry, but that was your theme on football coverage so just wondered.
I'm happy with Gabby , Alex Scott, and all the team. Panel members are good too- Michael Johnson, Denise Lewies
Strange theblip, I don't really have a problem with any of them (a few of the "experts", are a little on the cardboard side - Jessica Ennis-Hill doesn't seem to have any kind of on-screen personality). What don't you like about the presenters?
The problem is we’re seeing far too much of them, as the BBC has to play for time with so little coverage available
I suspect bobbin has sussed you tho I’m afraid
Alex Scott is awful, and I feel sorry for Clare Balding (who is a real pro, and could present anything, standing on her head) that she's been lumbered with her as co-presenter, as she adds nothing.
I can't be the only one who cringes each time AS says swimmin', boxin', runnin', sailin' and so on. Her presentin' is terrible.
At least Alex Scott has a warmth about her, as does Sam Quek - maybe with more experience and coaching their skill levels will rise. Although I’ve yet to see Helen Skelton at this Olympics, she was like that at previous ones. All I sense from Logan, Balding and Irvine is cold steely ambition, no genuine warmth, and I long for the day Balding gets a different hairstyle. I’m a big admirer of Sue Barker who made a tremendous leap from shy tennis player to natural and masterful presenter, though sadly her AQOS days are over and one wonders how many more Wimbledons she’ll be allowed.
She says she is proud of her accent but dropping the g from words has nothing to do with accent, it's lazy speech. How much harder is it to say digging instead of diggin? I blame Steve Wright.
I appreciate you’re jokin’ about Steve W and his serious jockin’, but it is baffling why he’s still with Radio 2 - well past his sell-by date. I’d replace him with the magical Paul O’Grady though I don’t think he’d do it and anyway the BBC would have different priorities
