You're confusing us Brits again!

Here in the UK (and, indeed, throughout Europe), the Earth wire is green & yellow, the Live wire is blue and the Neutral wire is brown. Our plugs are different to yours too:

(Our electrical supply is different as well, at 230V AC, rather than 120V AC).

In the USA, where I assume you are, Earth is green, Live is black and Neutral is white: https://www.leadsdirect.co.uk/technical-library/mains-wiring/wiring-an-american-plug/
I haven't got the slightest clue what a red lead might be used for though!

You might stand a better chance of getting an answer on a US-based site, such as Quora or Stack Exchange.
Chris, you have got your live and neutral wrong there. Live is brown, neutral blue.
Slightly negative comment there. ;-)
Another negative comment - what's this question doing in sport? :-J
Nescio is clearly more awake at half-past ten in the morning than I am at 4 in the morning ;-)

Thanks for your correction (although the information isn't relevant to James's post anyway). I've wired hundreds of plugs, and even taught kids how to do it as part of General Science, so I've no real idea why I got it wrong above!
