So despite the quizsetter saying in "Chatter" that he disapproves, you carry on? Why?
Totally agree, its taking the fun out of being proud of getting the answer. I still have two to get but whittling them down now.

I'm not asking for an answer, just a nudge. I still would like the satisfaction of resolving the clues but have hit a brick wall. With these type of questions, if in this situation, I suspect most are asking their family, friends and colleagues for ideas as would be normal, although not in print!
B if there's one missing, there should be seven altogether.
For B think of 7WofW !
Does a difference exist between asking posters on here if they can help with a question - or trawling through other quiz sites to find possible help, or the internet, or using reference books? As with many folk on here, I'm happy to ask for help with questions, as I note that Angie55 has on occasions for other quiz queries. Is the objection because cash prizes are involved, I wonder? Ian W (The Challenge) did recognise, though, "it is not strictly against the rules, which state that you may use ‘any means’ to obtain an answer". A bit of a conundrum, methinks?
A conundrum indeed, I tend to go along with the setter's wishes or guidelines - if they are also ambiguous then that doesn't help much.
I think people get a bit cheesed off when the quizsetters wishes are ignored (ambiguous or not).

also, if you ask your friends or look up things on the net / in books, the answers stay in a small circle.
Ask on the Answerbank and any answers given can be seen by everyone (probably causing further anger to the setter)
As I have said many times before, the wishes of those setting quizzes have no sway on here.

If folk want answers or hints and I can help, I will do.
Good point raised by QuizmasterG, especially about quiz setter's wishes. However, when I set quizzes for a range of audiences I'm not that fussed about how questions are answered, short of bribery or corruption! Knowledge is not a private matter and it never should be. For Ian W and The Challenge, he also notes that policing how folk find answers is virtually impossible. I'm always intrigued by how students at King William School in Isle of Man find the answers to the fiendish Christmas Quiz set (seen in The Guardian). Remains a conundrum and maybe always will. Good discussion!
Blueintheface, you may as well just come out with it and given the answer. That is hardly a nudge.
Quizzingnut - no fun in that, is there? :-)
