I had to get football/rugby boots for little Tigs as part of the uniform requirement. The ones I got were suitable for all grounds but his PE teacher has said that the requirement is for soft ground studded boots. Simple enough I know but little Tigs can't seem to grasp tying laces. I've tried teaching over the last few years, and so has his dad but he now refuses to try.

Today I went to Sports Direct and bought him slip on ones which were a size up as he has wide feet and has to were thick sports socks. Well he couldn't even put his foot in the opening as it was so tight. Even tried it with a shoe horn but still too tight so will need to take them back!

I've googled laceless football boots but all of them look so tight fitting and so expensive. Also, I need them before Tuesday which is his next PE lesson. Can anyone help?

Oh tigger, I wish I could. Hopefully someone will come to your aid soon. Have you tried Amazon ?

I got some no tie laces for his current boots and they were quite difficult to put them on. You have to adjust the length then cut and it was really fiddly.

I may have to resort to buying some more and doing it all again.

Bobbi, I've looked at those but they are either the wrong colour, size or long delivery date.

Thanks all

It drives me mad, Bednobs. I learnt to tie laces at a really young age and its so frustrating when they give up and don't want to try again. I have to do his tie up as he can't get his head around that either. He has fine motor skill issues.
Tell the teacher the ones you bought first time are the only ones suitable for your son.
Such a strain on parents today. I feel so sorry..

I've emailed his teacher, Patsy, but they're quite strict. His teacher told him off last week and he only told me about it on Tuesday!
Tiggs this is a really good video for kids , it gets them to practice bits of the process .

I think that is so wrong..
I hope you can find a solution soon. :-)
Excellent video, APG.
Does his teacher know he has trouble with fine motor skills and has difficulty?
Does little Tiggs enjoy sport? Maybe emphasise to him that making an effort to learn means he can take part.
Take your son and socks with you to Sports Direct and try the models out in the shop. They have lots of different models some of which will be wider than others.

I'll send that to him, APG, thanks :o)

He hates sports, Pasta, but he has no choice as its part of the curriculum. They know he is autistic and I have mentioned the fine motor skill to his mentor and SEN. I mentioned in the email that he couldn't do laces up and the non lace ones can be really pricey.
Does the pair of all- surface ones have removable studs? If yes , see how much the longer ones are.
Excellent answer auntpg. They will learn

Yes, I've decided to brave the shopping centre in Croydon on Saturday! Not looking forward to it but needs must.
Question Author
No, they're just plastic moulded studs that are usually for non grass surfaces like astro turf.

When I originally got them the assistant told me they were suitable for all surfaces. She appears to have been wrong.
