...surely if all the virtue signalling, kneeling etc is sincere the surely civilised nations of the world should be boycotting the Qatar world cup.

TTT - // ich: "Indeed: far better to go there and make a point. " - the being that we will wear some slogans and kneel and that will negate all the Qatari barbarism? Cobras, better if all the worlds top sides boycotted the tournment. Now that would show it right up. // Agree wholehearted ly. The only 'point' we will be making us to underline our galaxy-sized...

Every single kick will be televised to the entire world. Wouldn't close-ups of players wearing 'human rights' messages show the barbarity of the Qataris just the same.
I know what your beef is, TTT. It's all about your objections to players taking the knee. Don't pretend otherwise 'cos it makes you just as much a hypocrite as them.

That's the whole point, with every single kick shown, it tells the world everything is normal. However, to have the biggest football attraction in the world and there's not one team there, focus of attention would shift to the reason why they weren't.

I agree it should never have been awarded and yes the teams of the world should have boycotted it anyway. Nothing will happen now of course FIFA is as bent as a butchers hook and the national associations aren't far behind. I just think all the virtue signalling cobras we have been subjected to of late is rather hollow in the light of the contents of the video.
ken: "It would have been very interesting had all the major players refused to even consider attending a world cup in Qatar. Very interesting indeed. " - yes it would but sadly when the whole game is based on fraud, cheating and dishonour it's not surprising that the players have no qualms about attending, it's the very nature of the "sport".
