Ashes Debacle
This must be one of England’s most humiliating performances in Test history.Agreed the bowling was of a pretty high standard but the technique of our batsmen, honed as it is for white ball cricket, was found severely wanting. The ECB needs to go back to the drawing board and put the County Championship at the top of there list of competitions.A limited overs competition is obviously necessary to generate income for the counties but we now have too many.Let’s press the re-set button and perhaps the next time we go “down under” we have the players who can at least make a fight of it.

Joe Root is,by a long way,our best batsmen. However he is not yet an accomplished captain,he is having to learn as he goes along.English test cricket is suffering because of too much emphasis on the money which limited overs cricket can bring in.We need a root and branch review of the planning of the cricket calendar so that county cricket becomes the most important domestic competition once again.
