The Welsh and British Lions rugby legend and the man who set in motion the greatest try ever seen on a rugby field has died. RIP

A magnificent rugby player and a true gentleman. I had the honour of knowing him personally for a considerable number of years and his kindness to others was truly remarkable. RIP Phil.

can't argue with that assessment, RIP.
whenever that try is shown, there is always someone who finds a fault with it. Lets see this time.
I can't find a single thing wrong with it.
RIP to one of the rugby greats, Phil Bennett ...
yes - forward pass!

right on cue GG.
Sad news indeed. RIP.
Sorry for your loss, theprof ...
///right on cue GG.///

I think in your eagerness to justify your prophesy, you've missed the point of his post - forward pass being used as a euphemism for death, nothing to do with the try.
Thank you Ellipsis. My wife and I will be at the funeral.
RIP and condolences to his family and friends for the loss a great player and from all I heard a warm and caring person.
ah, a true legend. Amazing to think that when Barry John retires they have a Phil Bennett on hand to take up the reins.
Anyone tries to stop him getting through the Pearly Gates (I doubt they would), one deft sidestep and he'll be in.

Looking at that try again, under modern rules it might not have happened. John Williams I think it is is nearly garrotted by a high tacke early on (!).
Or would they play an advantage ...
canary, it was not a prophecy, it was me being annoyed that someone always tries to tarnish the greatest try ever scored. This time it was GG.

Ich, they played advantage.
Cheers Tora.

While looking at an old film of that barbarians-all blacks encouner it was funny watching the haka from 1973: looks quite tame compared to now (apart from one rude hand gesture it looks like they're doing air guitar karaoke!)
