Merry Christmas to Crofter, Gen2, Johnalex, Juliely and any others that have helped during the past year. Now are any of you good at cryptic clues to British football teams including Scottish and Conference League.

1. Means of entry for one at glastonbury, we here

2. Place where monk is not on the right side.

Thanks

1. Torquay
Question Author
please explain your answer barender, I think I put too much brandy in the in the sauce ready for the Christmas pudding. I had to keep testing it.
Tor - one at Glastonbury as in Glastonbury Tor ( we hear (not here?) - means of entry - quay (sounds like key).
Question Author
sorry I meant hear

Thank you for your good wishes Olivia. Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas, Johnalexxxxxxxx

Still thinking about Q2, eg Port Vale, Portsmouth, Newport, Stockport, etc . . . too much port, not enough monks . . .

Question Author
I had been working on that line Johnalex, still trying

So have I - still can't get it - hope someone does soon.

Hope all Ab'ers have a brilliant Xmas and Happy New Year.

Gateshead

Question Author
please explain that one Catmoffat, we are still trying to get No. 2
There's a team called Seven Sisters in one of the Welsh leagues if that's any good!
Question Author

sorry, good try Barender, but I dont think they fit, try this one, its causing some problems.

Sounds almost as though the vicar is being taken for a ride. The best I can come up with is Kidderminster. (Kid a minister)

Means of entry (Gate) and we hear rythmes with head

OK

Merry Xmas to you, Olivia.
Keep the questions coming. I am working on q2.
Question Author
sorry Catmoffat, but Barender got the answer to that one, its the first reply, it is Torquay

I can't figure it out completely, but can anyone else come up with a reason why it could be Bishop's Stortford from the Conference South ?

Bishops and monks, the ford indicates a crossing, or not being on the right (correct) side, a tort is a wrongdoing, but it could also be read as "to rt" (to right).

olivia - I think your Kidderminster is right. Still can't get 2.

No 2 could be Nuneaton or Middlesbrough.

(Middlesbrough is written as Middlesbro in my paper; bro = brother = monk, Middles = not on the right side.

Nuneaton = nun eaten, hence monk is on the wrong side.

Though I think there's probably a more obvious answer staring us all in the face.

A MC a a HNY to you too olivia.

Sorry I can't add anything constructive to this thread.

2. Olivia - Maybe 'monk' is a footballer, eg Garry Monk who plays for Swansea City? Shame he's right-footed but there may be other Monks out there! Gotta go - reindeer to feed and sleigh to pack . . .
Question Author
johnalex, thanks for the suggestion I'll go through the list of football players tomorrow morning after I've finished delivering, I have been wondering if there should be a comma between not and on, i.e place where monk is not, on the right side, its scraping the barrel though
