Today's W Hill 'Epic Odds' again concern a match in which Newcastle United are involved, this time it's their away match at Man City, kick off 12.30.
At home, City are in unstoppable form and, even with the brilliant Nick Pope back between the sticks, Newcastle may struggle to contain them. That said, in addition to their number 1 'keeper's return, they will also be buoyed by their recent 8 match inbeaten run away from home.
However, the bet is not about who wins the match; it's about whether or not a goal is scored in the fist half - by either side - and the fact that a first half goal has occurred in every one of City's 12 home PL matches (not to mention quite a few cup games) is enough to garner my interest. And, if that wasn't reason enough, City have scored against Newcastle in a record 28 PL games in succession, the joint-longest run of one team scoring against another in the history of the PL. (And, no, i haven't researched just how many of those goals were first half goals!)
£10 a goal to be scored in 1st half @ EVENS (should be 3/10) - Willy Hill
I'll possibly regret this, but I'm sitting this one out.
I'm not confident on Newcastle scoring, but I reckon City are quite favourable to score in the first half ...... I'm just not tempted enough though .... we shall see ....
To be honest, i wasn't all that sure, at first, until i saw the stats about a first half goal in all of City's home games. And, on a few occasions, it's the away side who've taken the lead, so i'm not relying totally on the Sky Blues.
You've piqued my interest Ken! I know absolutely nothing about football but I've bet 50p for Newcastle to be winning at half time but City winning the match. I'm with Bet365 and they didn't seem to have a first half goal only option. It was 20/1 so not very likely I'll be getting £10.50 but who knows? Good luck with today's bets.
