Just into a new season, EFL the highlights coverage has seen a big change at ITV. No studio "experts". Just an introduction to each game with a short interview afterwards, then on to the next game. None of this "should have", "could have", "would have" gubbins. BBC take note. Stop wasting our money on meaningless studio talk.

Lots of people like the talk.

I personally don’t like the Sky EFL coverage for that reason.
It’s good to have the choice

The "talk", is money for old rope. I've never understood the point of it.
Not all of us are footballing experts - like yourself perhaps the “talk” especially these days focuses on aspects of a game that might otherwise have been missed by the likes of me. I like that. Not everyone does.
It's to make the topic 'more interesting' apparently.

See also Channel 4 F1 coverage with their wide range of shapes, sizes, ethnicities, nationalities, sexualities and vocal stylings.
I normally record any TV highlights so that I can skip the pundits (especially Lineker and Co). Trouble is, that doesn't mean there's more footie to watch. :-(
I may be wrong but I think MOTD is the only highlights programme that has analysis. And it gets big audience figures
Correct 10C. More action and less comment. Arguing or laughing among the pundits is a waste of time.
Generally, football can be quite boring to watch. That might sound sacrilegious but it’s true, especially if one already knows the result.
That’s one reason MOTD does analysis. I wonder if the ITV programme now shows more football. Or has been shortened
