are there enough household names in the game now to re-make this classic?

If I was good at snooker & wanted to earn a lot of money..... I'd take up golf!

Great prizes for a 147 break in the Embassy Champioships  in the 1980s.  A Lada car..............😂

Don't knock it retro, it was good enough for Maureen!

TTT. I had three of them.

Well it was based on a Fiat 124 but the Russians made it with heavier panels and then put a different engine in it making it both heavier and slower! On early versions they did add a floor hatch though so you could go fishing on a frozen lake! You don't get that in Jaaaag!

im with you TTT on that!

Wasn't bad late 60s and 70s either.

steady eddy charlton, count dracula ray reardon, hurricane higgins, 26pints werbeneck! to name a few.

The Lada car was for the maximum by Steve Davis in the Lada classic, 1982. The first televised maximum.

they dont seem to use that spider rest any more!

If I'm not mistaken, that Lada was awarded to Steve Davis for completing the first televised 147, although it wasn't shown live, due to programme scheduling, it was shown just after as a recording. I think it was at Oldham Town Hall, if memory serves me right, without Googling.

But if you get a chance to go to one of those exhibition matches, they are good fun. I wouldn't have thought there would be many of them now as the players have a much busier schedule than in previous years.

A Lada was what the Russian govt was offering bereaved families in the war as compensation.

I guess they ran out of Ladas ...

I agree about the snooker players

I was lucky enough to see the Hurricane do an exhibition back in 1987. Already past his best by then but at least he behaved ...
