Depends if the contestant was very young.  I find young people in general pretty poor on history.  Someone recently gave Abraham Lincoln as a 20th century president.  That said, I could never go on The Chase.  I often need more thinking time.

Aren't people still being pusued for Poll Tax arrears? It wouldn't surprise me.  I know someone who never paid a penny of it and was pusued for years by the council.

This one depends on how old the contestant is. For we oldies who lived through both PMs it is ludicrous. But I was thinking about it in terms of the 34-year gap - for example say in 1963 (when I was 21) - how much did I know about PMs in 1929 - answer absolutely nothing.

Not for the first time on The Chase, on today's show the chaser gave a wrong answer, I think intentionally.

He said 'Sam and Dave' instead of 'Chas and Dave'.  Not convinced that was a genuine mistake.

As I've said before on here, there's nothing in it for the Chasers: they get paid, win or lose.  The one thing that would make the programme better - and more exciting - is if we were told the Chasers din't get their fee (which must be a few thousand pounds per show) if they lost.

Then they really would have skin in the game!

I don't think their fee is the issue - I think if they lost too much on the big prizes, hence losing ITV a lot of money, they would be fired.  Darragh lost a very large sum recently - he looked quite sick.  I think when he made the offer he was very confident that the opposition was weak.  He was wrong.
