I was amazed at the comment made by the newscaster regarding the ryder cup last night. He said that the only mistake the european team made was wearing jackets in a dubious shade of pink to collect their trophy. Dont their numerous researchers realize they wore them for the cancer charity they were supporting. Darren Clarke lost his wife to breast cancer just six months ago.
Yeah; I share your feelings on that misto. That's just how glib & "ironic" the news has become now. It's just another "personality" driven branch of the TV Entertainment industry. ITV are particularly culpable, but it happens on the Beeb too.
The same thing happened on BBC Breakfast this morning, but at least the presenter had the balls to apologise after people e-mailed in to put them right.
My first thought was ew, what's going on with their jackets? then it dawned on me failry quickly that it was the breast cancer chairty colour. I cant believe the newscaster couldnt have worked it out, even if a colleague said something afterwards they could have still put right this huge and quite upsetting mistake. I did not see it, but it would have had me shouting at the TV screen.
Is it not news peoples jobs to be up on current affairs? The Ryder Cup has never had so much media attention before and this newsreader must have been living in a bubble not to have known about the sad loss of Heather Clarke.
