Hola amigos, does anyone know of any good hotels near the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff? Looking for more than a travelodge but not the Dorchester, have found a few but reviews are not making good reading and wondered if anyone could offer first hand review? Ta in advance.

I've been meaning to try this place out at some point - The Big Sleep.

I've stayed at The Holiday Inn and The Angel,both of which are next to the stadium.Of the two I preferred the Holiday Inn purely because it was more modern and the breakfasts are excellent.The Angel is more oldie worldy but is also an excellent hotel.Both were roughly the same price. Some friends stayed at The Hilton at the same time but to glitzy for me and a longer walk and more expensive. Bar prices in the two former are reasonable.

Try the Thistle hotel, Park Place. slap bang in the middle of the city, not a stone's throw from the stadium.

THERE ARE PLENTY HILTON,THE MARRIOT,THISTLE, IBIS HOLIDAY INN AND THE ANGEL.(THE BIG SLEEP IS MORE LIKE A TRAVEL LODGE) THESE ARE ALL IN THE CITY CENTRE AND IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO CARDIFF BEFORE ITS REASONABLY SMALL AND VERY COMPACT. YOU CAN WALK ACROSS THE CITY CENTRE IN APPROX 10 MINUTES. THERE ARE 2 OTHER HOTELS BETWEEN THE CITY CENTRE AND CARDIFF BAY JUST ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF ST MARY STRRET. THEY ARE THE CELTIC HOTEL AND THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS.
