Early copy of Treasure Island
1 Answers
I have a copy of RLS's 'Treasure Island' which has spent several years gathering dust in my loft. I rescued the book from a large pile of books that a local charity shop sent to the local tip every week. Apparently, no one was interested in their books apart from me so I always had the pick of ten dustbins loads. I rescued so many expensive books.
The flyleaf at the front of this copy of Treasure Island says 'Fifteenth Thousand' and the date is 1886. The book is in fair condition, although the cover of the spine is loose and would need repair. All the pages are there but there are slight brown spots throughout which I believe are a common mould.
I just wondered whether the book is of any value - not so much financially but more intrinsically. If it's worth nothing then it can stay in the loft. If it is of interest however, then I would like to see it go to someone such as a collector who could give it a better home and appreciate it more than me.
Thanks in anticipation.
