What in your opinion is the greatest sporting competition in the regular calendar? Any of the various world cups? An Ashes series, the Olympics?

For me, I think it's the Ryder Cup, don't quite know why, I'm not a golfer, but it just has that extra something, probably because we were so rubbish in it for all those years.

I always watch The Grand National and The Derby (not County of course).
However I love The FIFA World Cup Finals,I watch every game!
I'm also a fan of The Tour de France, you can see the whole of the country without having to go there!
we were certainly rubbish at it in 2008!
the world cup continues to allude us as well
Without a doubt, it's the FA cup. From 3rd round to the final, david Vs goliath. I grew up in the FA cups glory time, watching Sunderland beat leeds, southampton beating man utd. The classic of 1978 with ipswich beating arsenal, 1979, arsenal 2-0 up with 7 mins left, man utd score twice 2-2, then alan sunderlands slide at the far post for the
winner. Ricky Villa's solo goal 1981. Norman Whiteside's curler to win man utd the cup in 85. 1986, the first all merseyside FA cup final, Coventrys match of their history to beat spurs in 1987. There cannot be any comparison.
To be honest ANY sporting event in which England, or an Englishman reach the final or come close to reaching a final gets my 100% attention!

The Paralympics, they were unmissable in Beijing, can't wait for 2012.
