OK he signed up for 5 years, played one game and spat the dummy out. Anyone know what upset him so much? It's all gone a bit hush hush in the sports press. thanks

At the age of 35 he may well have underestimated that commitment lasts for 90 minutes and even though Notts County are in a lower League he has found it too tough and thrown his dummy out of the Pram. He cannot play for another Club until January at the earliest, but who will have him ?
When Sol was with the spuds I can distinctly remember a time when I was chatting to a mate who was an proper, avid Arsenal fan and he grudgingly agreed that Campbell would be the first name on the England teamsheet... but that was ten years ago! He’s turned into a journeyman donkey and hasn’t impressed for years. Another hasbeen acting like a prima donna, he should be grateful for anyone paying him for lumbering around.

Anyway, the company line is that he's unhappy with the facilities but there must be more to it than that, I'm as intrigued as you!?
Didn't he go off into the wilderness for forty days and nights when he was at Arsenal

(or was that Jesus?)
Perhaps they wouldn't pay him the thirty pieces of silver.
Actually, I think he's wisened up.

Campbell is a right good player and you only have one life. Maybe he realises that money is not the be all and end all and that, he should play at the highest level for as long as he can.

The mistake was dropping down to Notts County level. He would be twice as foolish to compound that error by staying there when he could be playing for good money (ok, perhaps not quite as much as he's on), at the highest level he can - perhaps at Man Utd as part of a squad (like Owen) - or at Fulham, West Brom, FC Twente, Rangers, or Celtic.
There is something a bit odd about the guy.
