im having really bad pains in my mouth, i think i have gum infection or summut, cos the gum seems really inflamed and in alot of pain :( it feels like a very painful sensitive tooth, it dosnt hurt wen i put presssure on the tooth though. :'(
ive already exceeded my ibruprfen dosage and its not working. but wen i bathe it in listerine (mouthwash) the pain disappears... but after the rinse etc.. pains back again... and its bed time :'( any suggestions to soothe the pain pls??? :'( ouch ouch.......will bonjella work?

After a couple of days it felt better and all the goo game out of the tooth/gum. Ibuprofin will reduce inflammation but if you have a bacterial infection, antibiotics may be the only way to sort it. See your dentist though.
I has this 2 weeks ago, booked up to see the dentist and over the weekend one side of my face swelled up like a balloon, saw an emergency dentist and he drained the gum and prescribed me antibiotics, got to my dentist on the monday and because of the swelling she couldn`t do nothing, had to wait another week and had the tooth out, went back today for 2 fillings and got to go back after xmas and have a crown
Total cost about £250
OUCH!

whitebear, try anbesol, its an adult strength get that you rub on the tooth/gum and is pretty good.
i went through a few tubes of it when i had a similar problem as elvis, the side of my face came up like a balloon and was sooooooo painful, unearale to touch.
i never did go to the dentist, i know i should have done, ut i fear them and its flared up like that a few times (luckily ive not had it for about a year now)
mine burst on the outside of my face of all things, not inside! lol ... and my god did some rubbish ooze out, infact it almost pumped out! loads of it!!! but what a lovely relief it was to my face afterwards though lol.
ive still got a little dent like scar just under my jaw/chin where it erupted.
try that anbesol get and keep rinsing your mouth out to keep it clean. the gel kind of numbs the area a bit and eases the pain. you can get it from boots for about £3 ish.
if you can, try and get to the dentist cus you dont want to end up with a face like mine and elvis do you lol. - not a pretty sight!
hope the pain eases for you bear as theres nothing worse is there, good luck xx

Sounds a bit like an abcess, and although the pain in them can come and go, they rarely (if ever) go away on their own. I'm guilty as sin because I have one that plays up periodically but which I haven't told the dentist about because I'm pretty certain she'll want to remove it and I'm not sure about that. That happened before with another dentist and I was traumatised for weeks afterwards, it was so painful.
However, an earlier one was dealt with by a much better dentist who drilled a hole into the back of the tooth (to let the poison drain out), gave me antibiotics and had me back a couple of weeks later for further work. I still have the tooth!
Whatever, do as I say, not as I do, and get thee to a dentist.
