Off to Barcelona to watch some footy

For my dads birthday I'm treating him to a FC Barcelona game. The tickets are bought and so is the travel, though I'm still looking for some accomodation. Has anyone been to a Barcelona game before that could recommend some cheap(ish) accomodation close to the ground or as accessible to it as possible? Thank you.

I think they are still playing in the stadium where the olympics were held. I do not think that there are many places to stay in the immediate area. You are probably going to have to stay in town and take a bus or taxi to the stadium. Hotel California just off the Rambles is close to the metro and taxi and bus stops. Train service is excellent to the Nou Camp. By the way, they don't sell programmes.

FC Barcelona play their matches at the Nou Camp, not the Olympic Stadium. I don't know about accommodation close to the ground, but I can recommend Hotel Monegal, which is at the top of La Ramblas, so very handy for the metro. But if you go on google earth it may well show hotels which are nearer to the ground.

Cheers folks. I heard the train/metro was very good. I'll look into that hotel and I never thought about using Google Earth for hotels.
