Sounds to me like sour grapes to blame the referee over the disallowed England goal. Unfortunately for him, his linesman on the far touchline was level with the 18 yard line, the ref himself was not positioned to make the decision that the ball had clearly crossed the line, therefore the "goal" couldn't be given. Slow motion replays and hindsight are wonderful things.
The Argentinian 1st goal was almost a replica situation, although the linesman was slightly closer, but still behind play. The ref had been left well behind the pace by a sudden change of direction of play. They're not machines, refs and linesmen.
I used to be a referee and I've run the line many a time, too. Very difficult, as well as thankless. They're only human like the rest of us, but at the moment they don't have the advantages of endless replays to establish fact. They only have their judgement, which is very fallible, just like mine - or yours, piggynose.
