A:3K event cancelled...........at the last minute by England "stars"

Hi all.

Just returned from work abroad to be told by eldest son that yesterday it was announced that Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney had pulled out of the A:3 K football skills event, due to it being "inappropriate" at this time.

My son and his mates have had tickets, along with thousand of other football fans, some much younger than them, for quite some time now........so is it just that they fear that they will be booed......surely they will be cheered for their skills not the World cup?...... and do you agree with them letting fans down AGAIN by cancelling the event.
I feel sorry for the fans who have been looking forward to it. Opinions please.

Overpaid egotistical bigheads that think of nothing else but themselves and not any fans...........shame on them.................as they jet off on their holidays after once again, under achieving for the nation and their thousands of fans around the world too ( you dont have to be English to follow England you know )

My son has now rescheduled and is coming, with a few mates, with me on tour just before we all go on our big family holiday. Happy days :0)

Hi yogi ! It's a great shame really but I think all of them are too embarassed after that debacle in South Africa. You have to feel sorry for the kids though as it has spoilt a worthwhile event......

To be honest, it would seem rather stupid organising such an event for just after the World Cup when nobody could have predicted how these players would have performed.

I don't follow football and am not too keen on children. But to cancel at such a late date for such a pathetic reason (not really a reason as such) is unacceptable.

The kids will have been looking forward to this event for a long time. Could Rooney and Gerrard not have tried acting like adults and show the kids that they might have done badly in the silly little football tournament but they were able to put that behind them and pass on their skills to the next generation.

My cats are currently playing football/pawball in the kitchen and living room. They are pretty good. Maybe I should get them little Scotland strips.

Hope you're well..........hit the nail on the head.......they fear getting boooed and they might have, but do they treat their fans like that and pull out of an event so close to the date........shameful.

Busy day today.......just arranging for my trip to sqad's nearby island of Mallorca........got gigs there at the weekend..........my eldest son has his High School Prom tonight at 7.00pm.......so he's really looking forward to it.......8 of 'em being dropped off by the seafront later........huge white stretch Limo picking them up there.......proud parents will be theere to snap photo's and see them go off.........makes you proud to be a Mum and Dad :0)
