I was ok at long jump, but I think alot of others just didnt want to do it
I find it hard to believe now, but I was house athletics captain at my secondary school. It sounded grander than it was, out of the four houses ours was traditionally the one not good at sports, and I didn't change that - but our PE mistress congratulated me on being the only house captain who actually fielded someone (albeit mostly rubbish) for every event on sports day that year.
I was the star of the netball team at the primary school, I scored 17 goals in one match! I also held the throwing the rounders ball record for years and years. It all wen to pot when I went to Grammar School except for the tennis,

As the clumsy fat kid I was usually sitting watching but later I was pretty good at shot and discus a bit dangerous with a javelin,
I was good at a lot of sports, crap at running but I used to scare the bejesus out of the people I marked in netball, I always played offensive postions because I could intimidate them off the ball.

I was good at tennis as well, I used to slam the ball at them, I made a girl cry once. I was too competative.
I wasn't any good at anything except gymnastics and dance. I still cringe with the horror of being made to take the shot in a netball game once at the orders of the teacher and missing of course, i can still hear the groans of the team.
Very unlike me in those days, but I do recall starting a fight on the netball court, we were two teams each end having shot practice and one of the other team started interfering, so I hit her. Not my style at all, it still surprises me to think about it.

Long jump record in minutes??? Huh?

I loved netball, was always GA
I played netball when I was forced but preferred badminton, hated hockey but ok at cricket when they let us play with the boys...
I'm a good swimmer but that never really came up on sports day. I'm pretty much useless at every other sport with the possible exception of basket ball where I worked my way up to 'slightly better than average'.
I loved hockey and rounders, I had no fear of being hit.

remember primary school, what were those little bean bags about then?
I did not carry much weight but was tall and slim for my age (still am!) so became good at middle distance running. I also played football most days.
I represented my school in every team sport.......but I was crap at athletics.
I played football for the school, until we were banned by the LEA,ran in the cross country team, table tennis team and chess!
Was rubbish at cricket though :-(
Rugby for the school. Cr@p at everything else.
I did long jump and 200 yards, and relay. I still can only swim with armbands - and yup, those armbands for the largest size child do hold up a 15-stone woman. I haven't drowned yet!
Hated it, all of it, except dance and running. I can't run at all now :o(. And now all I like is F1 and dance. Dance was what kept me fit and slim all my life until this wretched arthritis got the better of me!!
