Why is Women's Darts so poor?

I have been a Darts fan all my life and am not too bad a player myself. I am just watching the womens Darts final, and as with previous years the quality of Womens Darts is not good. They can throw the odd good leg, but typically struggle to finish a leg in under 20 darts, which is about the level of an average player in my local Men's league. I can see no reason why Women should not be as good as Men at Darts, so I struggle to understand why professionally their game is behind the Men's. It's not just slighy behind, it is an absolute mile behind.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why Women cannot play Darts as well as men?

Well, Trina Gulliver has just won the title for about the 10th time, but I am not joking when I say that I would be fairly confident of beating her.

The only female sports I take an interest in are, in no particular order, beach volleyball, athletics, diving, synchronised/swimming, netball, volleyball + basketball. Can't think why?

gymnastics is an odd one.........and one could also add ice skating where its pretty much a tie - men now thinking about quads but I couldnt see them doing a Biellmann spin

A true sport (imo) is one that is not decided, on someones opinion.

Some ladies version of particular sports are better and more enjoyable to watch than the mens'. For me womens' ice skating, gymnastics and tennis are good examples that are much better to watch than mens'.

not having read through all the posts I don't know why they televise any of it. Womens darts are crud to watch (I used to play inter-county)

Me too alba, for Surrey then Sussex. I was about when Maureen Flowers was, who I thought was an excellent player and gave quite a few men a run for their money.

Must be quite a bit older than you cos it was Linda Batten who took over from Maureen. Trina won today but not a great game. Scoring was good but finishing not so. Maureen married Eric Bristow but not for long. Hubby played too and actually played Eric in the first round of the British Professional comp on tv. Lost but it was when Eric was at his best. Just wish I could still play.
