Totally agree, trt, contracts these days are just bits of paper with numbers and letters and have no meaning. Torres worth 50M - don't make me laugh but there again football isn't real life is it? More like monopoly what with oil rich sheiks and russians owning our clubs - oh and not forgetting the yanks. I just hope for Liverpools sake they can get the best out of Carroll because I do think he has talent and could be very special indeed.
Apparently Carroll was gutted to be going and was essentially pushed out 'cus Newcastle wanted the money. It's a crazy amount only paid out of desperation but the lad's got potential.
He's no Torres, we'll have to completely change our style and considering we play without orthodox wingers it will be interesting to see how he fairs.
That said, Carroll and Suarez will be a lot stronger than Torres and Babel, which is what we're talking about really considering the outlay.

According to the Sunderland Echo he was pushed.....

I think Carroll will give Liverpool a different dimension up front with his height and heading prowess, but, will Liverpool play the sort of formation AND give Carroll the service? People have been saying that Ancelotti might have to push Drogba or Anelka out wide to accommodate Torres through the middle - I can't see either of them being too happy about being elbowed aside, somehow.
I think it's poor timing from Carroll to leave Newcastle. The usual suspects were being lined up - Crouch, Heskey etc. although neither would have had the same impact Carroll has had.

I think it's harsh to blame Carroll, Torres had us over a barrel with the lateness of it all, Liverpool paid well over the odds because we had to, Newcastle couldn't turn it down and Carroll was seemingly pushed to accept. Torres has lost a hell of a lot of respect on Merseyside for the way he's gone about all this and then with his quotes this morning.
I hope the new players can play, we can't got facing Chelsea with Ngog up front!!

Newcastle were always looking to sell Carroll as soon as they smelt anything over £30m and Liverpool are crazy paying that money for a player who has as much chance of getting injured off the pitch as on it. Good riddance to Torres though, impetulant Snag. £50m good deal for Liverpool. I think Torres will turn out an excellent buy for Chelsea.
